Hello! My name is Tomesa Howard, and I am the proud founder of Look and Learn Like Me™, a Black woman-owned educational business created with love, purpose, and a passion for helping children learn.
With over 10 years of experience in early childhood education, I have witnessed firsthand how important it is for children to feel seen, represented, encouraged, and included.
I created Look and Learn Like Me™ because I believe every child deserves to see someone who looks like them doing amazing things!
My educational collection celebrates Black and Brown children while welcoming children of ALL races, backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.
My growing collection includes preschool worksheets, coloring books, educational flashcards, American Sign Language (ASL) learning cards, nonverbal communication cards, sensory-friendly activities, fine motor skill resources, and much more.
The Heart Behind My Mission
This business is more than a dream. It is deeply personal.
As the grandmother of a beautiful autistic granddaughter who is developing her communication skills, I understand how important it is to have educational resources that meet children where they are.
I have personally used materials from my collection with my granddaughter, and watching her engage with colorful learning activities featuring children who look like her has been an incredible source of inspiration.
That experience strengthened my commitment to creating resources that help children feel included, build confidence, communicate, and develop important early learning skills.
I don't want children to simply get through the learning process. I want them to thrive, excel, and discover just how amazing they truly are!
Why I Am Raising $10,000
I am seeking financial support to expand Look and Learn Like Me™ and make my educational products more accessible to families, teachers, childcare providers, and communities.
Although I have already begun creating and developing educational products, growing a small business requires supplies, equipment, inventory, and financial resources.
With your support, I hope to take my collection to the next level.
How the Funds Will Be Used
My proposed $10,000 fundraising budget includes:

• $2,000 — Printing Equipment and Supplies: Printers, ink, paper, laminators, and other production materials.
• $2,000 — Educational Learning Kits: Supplies for creating hands-on preschool activities, learning kits, and classroom resources.
• $1,500 — Sensory-Friendly and Communication Materials: Resources designed to support children with different learning, sensory, and communication needs.
• $2,000 — Branded Merchandise: Initial production of educational shirts, hoodies, backpacks, lunchboxes, and related products.
• $1,000 — Packaging and Shipping: Packaging, labels, shipping materials, and order fulfillment supplies.
• $1,500 — Website, Marketing, and Business Expenses: Online store improvements, promotional materials, business operations, and applicable fundraising expenses.

Total Fundraising Goal: $10,000
These are planned allocations and may be adjusted according to actual costs and the amount raised.
My Bigger Dream: A Place Where Every Child Belongs
My long-term vision extends beyond educational worksheets and learning materials.
One day, I hope to open my very own preschool and early learning center where children of all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed, celebrated, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
I also dream of providing special opportunities for families raising children with disabilities or additional support needs.
My goal is to eventually dedicate at least two days each week to offering short, supportive sessions lasting approximately two to three hours, giving parents and caregivers an opportunity to rest, attend appointments, or simply take a much-needed break.
I understand that not every parent has family members, friends, or a strong support system they can depend on.
Sometimes, a parent just needs someone who understands, someone who cares, and somewhere their child can feel safe and accepted.
I want Look and Learn Like Me™ to become part of that support system.
This future preschool and family-support vision is a longer-term goal. Funds from this initial campaign will focus on expanding my current educational business and resources.
